The Joy of Learning
|
Special Events Team
On Monday, March 3rd 2003 was born “The Joy of Learning Special Event Team” S.E.T. at the Joy of Learning, which is a group of parents willing to organize important events for our children and their families as well as to work in conjunction with us in strengthening the links between home and school.
As you know, we believe that our children's education is like a triangle: one angle is the child, the other is the school and the third is the family, and the three of them share equally the importance to reaching our common objectives.
The S.E.T. (Special Event Team) organizes wonderful and meaningful events for all of our children and their families. If you are willing to joint the team and/or you want to help, you can contact any of the persons listed below. You are also invited to assist to any of the school year meetings that are being held at the school each Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Atelier. Your support is very important!

"The Joy of Giving"
Introducing to our children the importance of values like giving,
kindness and sharing.
The purpose of this project is for us to become aware of the importance of being generous and charitable with those who are not as fortunate. We plan for both teachers and parents to be working together closely with our children in order to help them understand the meaning of these important values.
We will be working mainly with a group called “ Misioneros Del Camino”. This is a non- profit charitable organization that operates children's homes in Guatemala. This group aids children who are abused, malnourished, orphaned and/or abandoned. Recently, members of S.E.T. had the privilege of meeting the founder of this organization
Mrs. Leonor Portela as she visited our school.
If you would like to receive more information regarding this organization you can obtain informational packets through the atelier.
In order to achieve these this goals we have organized different events for the children, parents and teachers of The Joy of Learning.
We also invite the community of Doral to participate in our project.

There are many ways in which you can collaborate!!!

Penny Collection: "Save Children in Africa"
|
This is an invitation to our TJOL family to collaborate with our “Joy of Giving” project by depositing pennies in our Piggy Bank throughout the holidays. The money we collect will serve the children in Africa who need our help. At the same time, we are very interested in using this project to help develop our students' number sense by counting while acquiring a deeper understanding of large numbers, place value, volume, weight, measurement and other important math concepts.
We hope you can open your hearts to help us to
make this a tremendous success!!!

Toy Drive
|
|
The S.E.T. is still sponsoring a TOY DRIVE to benefit The Joy of Giving Project. This was born three years ago and has been a success since the beginning. S.E.T. plans on keeping it as long as we can. Thanks to all the TJOL families for your unending support!
We accept toys and clothing donations all year long. The Joy of Giving boxes are placed in front of the academic office.
We can all contribute with our generous gifts to put smiles on people's faces and lessen the burden for those who are less fortunate.
For more information feel free to ask the classroom's teacher or the Atelierista.
Thanks!!

SPRING FESTIVAL
|
The Festival took place on Saturday, March 18th from 11 to 3PM, at the school premises. It was organized by our team with the help of all the parents who were volunteers.
We had sand and water station, bubble stand, bounce house, rides, games, lots of food and much more! The children and parents had the opportunity to share a wonderful moments together and to get to know other families at the school as well. It was a very special time for building our sense of community and tiding up more our relationship within children, parents and the school.
Thank you parents, teachers and staff for making the
Spring Festival such a success!
we will see again next year!
